Travel

To the J. Lee Gould Track in Waltham, MA & Governor Dummer Academy (GDA) Track (below)

Waltham

By air:

We recommend that you consider using T.F. Green (Providence, RI) and Manchester (NH) airports as well as Logan International (Boston, MA). You will often get cheaper airfares traveling into Providence or Manchester. See www.massport.com/airports/ for information about (and links to) these and other New England airports. Information listed there includes a list of airlines that flies into each location.

By car:

The J. Lee Gould Track is located just a few miles off route 95 (also called route 128 in Massachusetts). From the north or the south, take exit 27 for Totten Pond Rd. Take Totten Pond Rd. east into Waltham approximately 1 1/4 miles to Lexington/Bacon St.. Take a right, and stay to the right onto Bacon St. Lexington St. will split off to the left. Take Bacon St. approximately 1/2 mile to Athletic Field Rd. Take a left onto Athletic Field Rd. The track and Leary Field is immediately on the left. Parking is available in the lot on Bacon St. and in the parking lot of Harvey Industries directly opposite the track.

By public transportation:

From downtown Boston:
The Fitchburg line of the MBTA commuter rail runs from North Station downtown to the Waltham Station ($2.75 one way). The Waltham station is located between Elm St. and Moody St. opposite the Waltham Common, approximately 1 mile from the track. There is a cab stand at the station, and a direct phone to the Waltham cab company. Take Moody or Elm St. north 1 block to Main St. Go left on Main about 5 blocks to Bacon St. Go right on Bacon, and follow it about 1/4 mile to Athletic Field Rd. The J. Lee Gould Track will be at that intersection, on the right.
From Logan International Airport:
Take the free Massport shuttle bus (buses #22 or #33) from the terminal to the MBTA Airport subway station. The Airport station is on the blue line. Take the blue line inbound to State, and change to the orange line, or to Government Center station and change to the green line. Take either the orange line or the green line 2 stops outbound to North Station ($1). Take the Fitchburg line of the MBTA commuter rail to Waltham station (see above).
From T.F. Green Airport:
There is a shuttle bus from T.F. Green Airport to Logan International . Contact airport for details. Or take a cab to the Providence Amtrack Station. Take the Providence line MBTA commuter rail to South Station ($5.75 one way). Take the MBTA red line subway to Park St. station, and change to the green line. Take the green line to North Station ($1). Take the Fitchburg line of the MBTA commuter rail to Waltham Station (see above). A long trip, but it can be done. Much easier to rent a car and drive, as both T.F. Green and the track are just off route 95.

Many of the bigger hotels run shuttle buses to and from Logan airport. Contact the hotels for more information.
